Motor Boat Rules + Regulations
- Rental boats must stay 150 yards or more from lakeshore to avoid shallow areas.
- Rental boats may not drive near river inlets, or under bridge to Shadow Mtn. Lake.
- Renter and driver must be 18 or older with a valid drivers license.
- Participants may not smoke or consume intoxicants while on a rental boat.
- Children under 13 are required to wear a life jacket.
- Boats on the right, sailboats, paddle craft have the right of way.
- Rental boats are not permitted to tie up with other boats or docks. Use Grand Lake Marina’s dock only.
- Rental boats may not drive in congested areas, and must not approach sail boats.
- Rental boats are not permitted to make fast turns.
- Rental boats are not permitted to tow water toys, tubes, skis, or wakeboards.
- Passengers may not load SUP’s or Kayaks onto rental boats.
- Dogs are allowed on rental boats, according to our pet policy.
- When returning to the dock, go as slowly as possible, and listen to directions from staff.
- No weather refunds. Credit will be based on availability and authorization.
- Renter is responsible for all damaged or lost equipment, which is to be paid immediately.
- If renter or driver does not understand the rules and regulations, it is their responsibility to inform rental staff.
Paddle Sports Rules + Regulations
- Participants must wear personal flotation devices at all times.
- Participants may not paddle into river inlets, or under the bridge into Shadow Mtn. Lake.
- Participants must assess the water and weather conditions prior to departing.
- Participants must adhere to stated capacity on paddle craft. All adults and children count.
- Participants may switch who is on the craft one time during rental.
- Pets are not allowed on paddle craft.
- Participants may not smoke or consume intoxicants while on the water.
- Participants may not tie up with boats or docks. Use Grand Lake Marina’s dock only.
- Participants must beware of paddling in congested areas frequented by motor boats.
- Participants may not swim from paddle craft.
- Participants may not approach sailboats.
- Upon return, participants must proceed slowly and remain sitting or kneeling.
- Participants are asked to clean any mess left in the craft that exceeds normal use.

Cancelation Policy
To confirm a booking, customers must pay a 50% NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT.
This deposit is non-refundable for any reason.
In the event a customer wishes to change their booking, the deposit amount will apply to the new booking.
The remaining 50% will be charged upon check-in.
No-shows will be charged the full price.
No weather refunds, however we will provide a rebooking or credit in the event of severe weather.

What type of license do I need to rent a boat?
To rent a boat in Colorado, all you need is a regular government issued drivers license. There is no need to posses a boaters license.
Pet Policy
Pets are allowed on rental boats under following conditions:
- Pets over 15lbs will be considered within the capacity of the boat. 1 pet 15Lbs and over counts as 1 passenger, and so on.
- Lap, comfort and service dogs less than 15Lbs will not be considered within the capacity of the boat. Maximum - 2
- Pets are not allowed onto the seats of rental boats.
- If there is a mess that needs cleaned, renter must return the boat at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled return time.
- Pet’s are not allowed on paddle sports rentals.
Can rentals access Shadow Mtn Lake?
No, none of our motor boats or paddle sports are permitted to enter Shadow Mountain Lake.
Can we bring food on the boat?
Yes, please feel free to bring food and coolers.
Can we bring alcohol on the boat?
No, please refrain from bringing alcohol on your boat.
Can we tow water toys behind the boat?
No, towing of any water toys, skis, or wakeboards is not permitted behind a rental boat. It is permitted on Grand Lake if you have your own boat.
Is there parking available at Grand Lake Marina?
Yes, however space is limited! Look for one of our parking signs! There is also a large, free, public parking lot located just outside of our driveway. This is also where the public restrooms are located.
Do you accept tax exemption?
Yes! If you would like to make a reservation with a tax-exempt I.D., please give us a call or email and we will accommodate.
Do you sell fishing licenses?
We do not sell fishing licenses, please visit this link to purchase a license online.
Do you have PFD's for children?
Yes, we do. If you decide to bring your own PFD, please make sure that is it coast guard approved.
Do you offer refunds for weather?
No, we do not offer weather refunds. We are happy to provide a credit for you to re-book your remaining time for another date in the current season.
Can we load the boat over it's stated capacity?
Unfortunately, no. Capacities are strictly enforced and passenger count is by headcount, including all children, and dogs that are over 15lbs.
Do you offer boat slip rentals?
Unfortunately, we have very limited space at our marina and do not offer slip rentals of any kind.
Do you offer jet ski / wave runner rentals?
Unfortunately, no. There are no jet ski or wave runner rentals available anywhere on Grand Lake or Shadow Mtn. Lake.
Do you offer sailboat rentals?
Unfortunately, no. There are no sailboat rentals available on Grand Lake.
Do you provide life jackets for dogs?
Unfortunately, no. We do not provide dog PFD's / life jackets.
Can you swim in Grand Lake / from the rental boat?
Swimming is allowed in Grand Lake, however for your safety we do not recommend swimming from the rental boats. The average water temperatures are very cold!
